As the press service of the parliament reports, during the meeting the sides discussed issues related to the development of Armenian-Russian inter-parliamentary relations. Eduard Sharmazanov noted the importance of deepening and intensifying bilateral relations in all areas. According to the Deputy President of NA, Armenia's membership in the EEU has paid for itself, and Armenia has the opportunity to access the Eurasian market. According to Sharmazanov, the economic activity registered in Armenia in recent years, is primarily due to the country's membership in the EEU.
The parties noted the importance of efficient cooperation in the framework of the PA CSTO and the CIS. The Deputy President of the Armenian Parliament stressed that Armenia is ready at a high level to organize a plenary session of the PA CSTO, which is to be held from October 29 to 30 in Yerevan. Sharmazanov stressed that the plenary session of the Assembly will be held in Yerevan for the first time.
Referring to the issue of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the Deputy President noted that Russia is one of the first countries to recognize the genocide. Stressing that this year will mark the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, Sharmazanov expressed confidence that in order to prevent new genocides, all previous genocides must be condemned. "Today, being in Turkey, I want to note that denial is a new challenge for Eurasia. We must fight against all kinds of denial," the Deputy President of the National Assembly concluded.
