ArmInfo. The development of the Armenian-Russian cooperation in the criminal law field was discussed at the October 5 meeting by the Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan and the Ambassador of Russia to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin. The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office told ArmInfo that Kopyrkin pointed out the need to maximize cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries and expressed readiness to contribute to this.
In his turn, Davtyan highly appreciated the existing cooperation between the prosecution offices of Armenia and Russia both in bilateral and multilateral formats, which, in his estimation, fully corresponds to the spirit of allied and friendly relations.
During the meeting, issues of practical application of more effective mechanisms of criminal protection of the rights of citizens, revelation of fugitives, and increased efforts to combat transnational crime were also touched upon.
It was agreed to participate in such meetings in order to more effectively address issues on the agenda. Davtyan also expressed his condolences to the ambassador in connection with the helicopter crash near Kostroma, as a result of which Russian Deputy Prosecutor General Sahak Karapetyan died. According to Davtyan, this is also a great loss for the Armenian Prosecutor General's Office.
