ArmInfo. The delegate of Azerbaijan once again demonstrated the destructive approach of Baku on the issue of refugees, since the Azerbaijani delegation completely distorted the story based on its political preferences. The head of the migration service of Armenia Armen Ghazaryan in Geneva during the 69th meeting of the UNHCR Executive Committee said this in response to the statement by the representative of Azerbaijan.
He noted that Armenia supports the appeal of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees not to politicize this platform and to consider issues in the humanitarian context. Responding to the accusation of the Azerbaijani delegate that Armenia allegedly pursues an aggressive policy, Ghazaryan said: "Some delegates continue to politicize this platform." He noted that as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh confrontation, Armenia received about four hundred thousand refugees, most of who were successfully integrated into Armenian society. "Meanwhile, Azerbaijan, obviously, has been keeping them in the position of refugees for a long time, trying to use them as a political tool," said Ghazaryan.
Responding to the accusations made by the delegate of Azerbaijan that Armenia allegedly uses Syrian refugees for political purposes, Ghazaryan said: "This does not diminish our willingness and readiness to continue our support for the fraternal country, which in its time sheltered more than a million Armenian refugees after the 1915 genocide "Now we will continue to accept Syrian refugees, trying to provide them with international protection in our country," he concluded
