ArmInfo. The Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie Michaelle Jean expressed her condolences in connection with the death of Charles Aznavour.
"It was with the greatest sorrow that we learnt about the death of Charles Aznavour, when the entire Francophonie was planning to sing "La Boheme" with him gathered in Yerevan, where his roots are. This Armenian of the world became one of the best ambassadors of French language, values and freedom. Throughout the entire francophone space we will love this man and his songs, which are a treasure for humanity.
Aznavour died on Monday night at his home in southern France. Yerevan residents and guests of the capital all evening carried flowers and candles to the star of the world famous chansonnier Charles Aznavour in the square named after him, located in the city center. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also visited the square to pay tribute to the memory. Today, from 12:00 in the Aznavour Center, located next to the Cascade, those who wish can leave notes in the Book of Memory.
