ArmInfo. The delegation headed by Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov met in Minsk on September 24 with the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko.
According to the press service of the parliament, during the meeting the sides stressed the importance of joint work of the Armenian-Belarusian interparliamentary commission, cooperation in the parliamentary assemblies of the CSTO, the CIS and the OSCE. It also touched upon the development of bilateral relations within the framework of the EAEU.
The Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament presented the most important issues of Armenia's foreign policy agenda, stressing that effective opposition to security challenges is crucial for Armenia. In this context, Eduard Sharmazanov turned to the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, reaffirming the position of the Armenian side: the problem should be solved in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group, based on three well-known principles.
"The only obstacle to progress in the negotiations is the destructive position of Azerbaijan, which rejects the full realization of the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination, while the settlement of the conflict must guarantee the realization of the inviolable rights of the people of Artsakh." Artsakh has as many rights to independence as Armenia, Belarus and Azerbaijan, "Sharmazanov stressed.
