ArmInfo. The Republican Party of Armenia responded to the statement of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan about the low turnout in the Yerevan elections, which he explained by the absence of coercive methods for "delivering" voters to the polling stations used by the past authorities.
Thus, the RPA deputy chairman Armen Ashotyan wrote on his Facebook page: "I do not want to believe that Prime Minister Pashinyan explained the low turnout in the Yerevan elections by the absence of" gazelles "(minibuses that at one time" delivered "voters who received bribes to polling stations). It turns out that the post-revolutionary euphoria, the high prestige and rating of the prime minister, PR technologies and even the promise of early parliamentary elections did not have the desired effect, and were a less weighty argument than "ill-fated gazelles." In fact, the mobilization of society around artificial political agenda is under threat, "Ashotyan wrote.
Nevertheless, the voter turnout at the current elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan exceeded the turnout of the previous elections, amounting to 43.65% instead of last year's 40.99%.
Earlier, Prime Minister Pashinyan, on his way to New York, commented on the relatively low turnout in Yerevan's election to the Council of Elders during a Facebook live broadcast from Paris.
According to Pashinyan, the low attendance is due to the fact that unlike previous municipal elections, people are not transported to the polling stations by specially rented vehicles. "In comparison with the previous elections in Yerevan Council of Elders, the activity index decreased by 1-2%, which is probably due to the fact that people are not brought to the polling stations in these elections," he said, expressing the hope that the voters will still come to the polling stations. "These elections are unique, and the uniqueness i is that the choice of people will influence their results," Pashinyan said.
At the same time, the prime minister expressed confidence that the electoral process itself, as well as vote counting, will take place in an atmosphere of love and tolerance. As Pashinyan pointed out, law enforcement agencies are still on the alert and continue to carry out their work.
