ArmInfo. The issue related to the wiretapping of the telephone conversation between the heads of the National Security Service and the SIS is very disturbing. This was stated on September 19 by the chairman of the parliamentary commission to investigate the case of the wiretapping of the heads of the National Security Service and the Special Investigation Service of Armenia, former Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan.
Kostanian noted that this is a gross violation of human rights. "Listening to a telephone conversation is a gross and illegal interference in a person's private life.If the phone of two heads of such important law enforcement agencies is listened to, how can an ordinary citizen be sure that his telephone conversation is confidential?" The former Prosecutor General also noted that in the course of its activities the commission will also consider the issue of violation of the right to a fair trial.
The head of the commission also proposed to postpone the meeting for the next week so that the commission members could present the schedule of the commission's work. Kostanyan noted that it is necessary to establish, firstly, which mode of working schedule the commission members offer. Secondly, choose the deputy head of the commission. "Let each of us make a proposal regarding the list of necessary documents and the representative of which body should be called to the next meeting? Which international experts should be invited? And finally, what officials should be invited to the Commission to express their position," - concluded Kostanyan. The next meeting of the Commission will be held on September 26 at 12:00.
