ArmInfo. An employer in Armenia will not be able to fire employees without a good reason.
Amendments to the Labor Code were made at the first session of the parliament on September 11.
Presenting the draft, one of the authors of the document, the MP of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Gevorg Petrosyan noted that according to the acting legislation, employers have wide opportunities for dismissing undesirable employees, and therefore citizens need certain guarantees. He, in particular, explained that under the current Labor Code of Armenia, the employer can not dismiss an employee who is on vacation or on a business trip. However, he can do this later, when the employee, for example, returns from his/her leave to work. "For example, management puts forward an ultimatum proposal to lower wages, and if the employee does not agree, they just dismiss him," the parliamentarian explained, expressing his disagreement and concern with this. Proceeding from this, Petrosyan offered to protect working citizens from this threat and from the arbitrary attitude of employers. At the same time, the document envisages dismissing those employees who carry out their duties improperly, for instance, for being late for work regularly, or for appearing in workplace in the begining of working day and then leaving it for the whole work day. In this connection, an amendment was made to the document, according to which instead of two written explanatory notes, which the "irresponsible" employee is required to submit, the following formulation is used "can not be dismissed from work without a good reason".
