ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received on September 7 the newly appointed Ukrainian Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia Petr Lytvyn on the occasion of the delivery of copies of his credentials.
According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, congratulating Peter Lytvyn on his appointment, Mnatsakanyan wished him success in his important mission, expressing confidence that the ambassador will contribute to the expansion and deepening of the Armenian-Ukrainian relations.
Minister Mnatsakanyan and Ambassador Lytvyn discussed numerous issues on the bilateral agenda, emphasizing the need for practical measures to expand cooperation in the fields of science, culture and tourism.
The interlocutors highly appreciated the role of the Armenian community in socio-political, socio- economic, scientific-educational and other spheres of the country. In this regard, the Armenian Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for the careful attitude of the Ukrainian authorities towards the Armenian community, steps to preserve the cultural values and national identity of Armenia.
In the context of deepening trade and economic relations, the sides expressed satisfaction with the growth of trade between Armenia and Ukraine. At the same time, the parties agreed that practical steps should be taken, including within the framework of the intergovernmental commission, to make full use of the existing potential in the trade and economic sphere.
At the meeting, the Armenian Foreign Minister presented the approaches and priorities of the Armenian side in the issue of peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, stressing that attempts to artificially transfer the process to other formats harm the efforts of the co-chairs to address this issue. The interlocutors agreed that the peaceful settlement of the conflict has no alternative.
