ArmInfo. The former mayor of Yerevan, Taron Margaryan, will be interrogated as a witness in the case of abuses in the Yerevan Foundation. Head of the National Security Service of Armenia Arthur Vanetsyan stated this on September 4 in a conversation with journalists.
"The interrogation day will be appointed by the investigation team," Vanetsyan said, stressing that he does not interfere in her affairs.
To note, on July 13, the National Security Service received a message from the citizens of V.G. and A.Kh. the officials of the Yerevan municipality in exchange for granting the appropriate permits for construction and registration of property, in addition to the payments provided by law, obliged them to transfer large sums to the "Yerevan" fund. During the preparation of materials it was found out that some of the money received from hand to hand under the above-mentioned pretext of money did not go to the fund's accounts and was plundered. On the basis of reports of a crime, the Investigative Directorate of the National Security Service instituted criminal proceedings on the grounds of part 2 of Article 308 (abuse of official powers, which caused grave consequences by negligence) and clause 1,1 of Part 2 of Article 178 (fraud committed using official position) CC of Armenia. In the office of the Yerevan Foundation, located in the administrative building of the Yerevan Municipality, searches were conducted within the framework of the criminal case. Large-scale operative-search measures and investigative actions are conducted to find out the circumstances of the collection of money from citizens, directions and expediency of expenditures, as well as their legality.
