ArmInfo. The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan follows the path of dictatorship and tyranny. Deputy President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Spokesman of Republican Party Eduard Sharmazanov stated during a conversation with journalists on August 28.
Asked whether the RPA has a program on how the parliamentary elections should be held, what the party will prefer - the constitutional changes or the resignation of the Prime Minister, the Deputy President stated: "First, there have been no statements yet that the early parliamentary elections will be held within a year. A reference was made to the government program that was approved by the National Assembly, but no one knows what will happen in six months or a year. The RPA has not discussed this issue yet. The term of office of the deputies of the NA of Armenia of the current convocation expires in 2022. Whether the Parliament will continue to work until 2022, or early elections will take place, depends on the position of political forces, as well as on external and internal challenges. At the moment I can not answer this question definitely, "noted the NA Deputy President.
Sharmazanov also noted that the RPA is ready for a dialogue. "We are ready to negotiate with the government on any issue that concerns Armenia or Artsakh, but do not intend to recognize their power over the parliament," the Spokesman for the Republican Party said.
The Deputy President said that he concluded from the statement of the Prime Minister made on August 17 that Pashinyan is following a path of dictatorship. "Pashinyan chose the path of dictatorship and tyranny, but the meeting of the President of Parliament Babloyan with the Prime Minister gave hope that democracy will be established in Armenia after all." The opportunity of expressing dissenting opinion has not been excluded yet, "the Deputy President of NA said.
To note, on August 17, at a rally dedicated to 100 days of the new government's work, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the early parliamentary elections. In particular, Pashinyan noted that at the moment, according to the norms of the law, the prime minister should resign, after which, if the National Assembly does not elect a new prime minister twice, early elections to the parliament should take place. However, Pashinyan expressed mistrust of the deputies, noting that perhaps after he resigned, the parliament could elect another prime minister. The Prime Minister said that he has thoughts on how to avoid such a situation, namely, to introduce Constitutional amendments that will lead to early elections not only in the case of the resignation of the prime minister, but the parliament itself may decide on its own dissolution.
