ArmInfo. To date, many experts have expressed concern about transitional justice, however, there is as yet no single point of view on this issue. Tevan Poghosyan, Director of the International Center for Human Development, said this at a press conference on August 22.
He noted that the models of transitional justice are different and, first of all, depend on the specifics of this or that country. In addition, transitional justice should not contradict the Constitution and the international obligations that this country has. "In Spain, one tactic was used, and in Canada another." The American model in Armenia will not work, as in the US, the same goes for European model, each country has its own Constitution, and its international obligations, in addition, there are different political realities everywhere, so a correct model can be chosen only based on these data its state, we have to create its own model of transitional justice, which will be relevant in our country and will meet the tasks and challenges faced by Armenia ", - the expert said.
The director of the International Center for Human Development also noted that it is possible to understand exactly what we need and on what basis transitional justice should be built through fumes. "It is necessary that experts from different fields - jurisprudence, politics and other spheres, negotiate and decide on what tasks should first be paid attention and what is our priority, only in this way we will be able to create such a transitional justice that will in the interests of Armenia and its people, "Poghosyan concluded.
Yesterday at a press conference Armenian Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan said that transitional justice would not contradict the Constitution of the country. Moreover, after studying international experience, Armenia will make every effort to ensure that transitional justice in the country is the best. The Minister noted that the new government of the country does not intend to create extraordinary courts, moreover, transitional justice will in no way contradict the Constitution of the country, conventions and international obligations of Armenia. Everything will be exclusively within the law. Courts will not be dissolved, there will not be a trial of the courts, the Constitution will not be violated by one iota. Zeynalian stressed that transitional justice will be aimed exclusively at restoring human rights.
The former Minister of Justice of Armenia "Republican" David Harutyunyan issued a statement in which he stated that according to the Judicial Code, state and local government bodies, as well as officials, are obliged to refrain from actions that may pose a threat to the independence of courts or judges.
