ArmInfo. The decision of the Armenian Criminal Court of Appeal to change the measure of restraint against Armenian 2nd President Robert Kocharyan will be made public on August 13 at 4:00pm, one of the defendants' lawyers - Aram Orbelyan stated in an interview with journalists. In his opinion, the defense's request will be granted. According to the lawyer today the arguments of the sides were considered. The lawyer stressed that Robert Kocharyan has delivered an impressive speech.
Aram Orbelyan considered that the current measure of restraint against Kocharyan is unjustified. According to him if there are doubts that the second president will try to hinder investigation or escape responsibility by leaving the country the measure of written undertaking not to leave the place could be used. To note, earlier, answering the journalists' request to comment on the accusation brought against the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, his detention and statements of his supporters about political persecution against him, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that at this stage of legal processes he refrains from commenting on this issue. "I think it would be wrong at the moment to give any comments on this topic, since any comment can be considered, interpreted as interference, influence on the case, but I believe that all of you and every citizen of Armenia have an answer to this question, "Pashinyan said. On July 28 the Court of First Instance of Shengavit District of Yerevan granted the request of the Special Investigation Service of Armenia for choosing 2-month arrest as a preventive measure against the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan. The SIS accused Kocharyan of overthrowing the constitutional order within the criminal case on dispersal of protest actions on March 1, 2008. Kocharyan himself prior to the arrest called the accusation political persecution. According to him it is a vendetta under slogan of love and solidarity of "velvet revolution".
