ArmInfo. Today a meeting was held in the government aimed at discussion of programs being implemented by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The meeting was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, US Ambassador Richard Mills, USAID/Armenia Mission Director Deborah Griezer, representatives of the country's ministries and departments and other stakeholders. In his welcoming speech, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan stressed the importance of the Armenian government's cooperation with USAID, which, in addition to providing financial support, provides consultative support in various fields of economy. He highly assessed the implementation of USAID programs in key areas, stressing that the goals of the joint programs correspond to the vision of development of Armenia and noted the importance of organizing such meetings, as they provide opportunity to discuss the tasks faced by the country, exchange ideas for the implementation of new programs.
Ambassador Richard Mills thanked for organizing meetings in the government in such a format, spoke about USAID's 25-year activity in Armenia. Mills noted that Armenia can be proud of the fact that USAID readdressed its activities in the country from humanitarian assistance to promote entrepreneurship and effective governance. This contributes to economic growth and attracting foreign investment in the longterm perspective, raising the level of welfare. Together with our partners, we are building future useful for our peoples.
