ArmInfo. Armenia pays great attention to the further strengthening of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and aims to continue its active activities in the organization. Foreign Ministry spokesman Zohrab Mnatsakanyan stated this at a meeting with Russian Deputy Defense Minister Colonel-General Alexander Fomin on the eve of the meeting. The interlocutors discussed issues related to the prospects for deepening cooperation in the military sphere. The Armenian FM noted that the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri is one of the positive and important examples of cooperation in this field.
As Fomin stressed, Russia is aimed at cooperation with Armenia to solve humanitarian problems in Syria. "Russia expects further practical steps from Armenia in the humanitarian operation in Syria. They are grateful for supporting Russia's efforts in restoring a peaceful life in Syria and helping the people of this country. Armenia has already sent humanitarian assistance four times and we have gained a rich experience of cooperation with the Armenian side, "Fomin said." Armenia is our ally and key partner in Trans Caucasus. We are successfully cooperating with you both in a bilateral format and within the framework of international structures, primarily the CSTO, "he said, adding that Russia is providing significant assistance in strengthening the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia.
The Armenian Foreign Minister noted that the foreign policy of the country is unchanged - this is cooperation within the CSTO and EurAsEC. According to him, bilateral cooperation between Russia and Armenia includes several spheres, but the main one is the security sphere.
