The head of the Special Investigation Service Sasun Khachatryan told journalists on July 26.
According to him, a person unknown made the pledge to the public. "I do not even remember who," he assured.
On July 24 Vachagan Ghazaryan introduced a pledge established by the Court of Appeal to change the preventive punishment in the amount of 1bln AMD, and has already been released.
Ghazaryan's lawyer was at a loss to indicate exactly where the former official had taken such a sum to deposit a pledge. "I can only say that it is not necessary for this amount to belong to Ghazaryan himself," the lawyer said.
Ghazaryan was detained at the end of June on charges of illegal enrichment, as well as in the submission of false information in the declaration on property and concealment of data to be declared. He was charged with illegal enrichment, as well as concealment of information about the real amount of money in the declaration submitted to the ethics commission of high-ranking officials (314 and 310 articlesfull of the Criminal Code - forgery and illegal participation in entrepreneurial activities). On June 28, he was arrested for a period of two months and, disagreeing with the court's decision, appealed him to the appellate instance.
Earlier, during the searches in Ghazaryan's apartment on Teryan Street, 35 million drams was found, $ 1,110,400, 230,500 euros, and in the garage of the latter, $ 2,000 was found during the search. It was established that on June 25, $ 50,000 was cashed from Kazaryan's account at Ardshinbank, and from the account of the latter in "Unibank" was cashed $ 120,000 and 436 million drams. Ghazaryan was taken to the SNB, and with him uncovered amounts were found. In total, Ghazaryan found 460 million drams, $ 1,272,900, and 218,000 euros.
