ArmInfo.Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan dismissed the rumors in the media and social networks as to why he is traveling to the meeting of the EAEU Intergovernmental Council at the level of the heads of government in St. Petersburg, rather than the first deputy Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
As Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook page, on July 26-27 he will be on a working visit to St. Petersburg to participate in the meeting of the EAEC Intergovernmental Council. He stressed that he decided to personally participate in the meeting, so as not to create problems in the work of the Eurasian Union. As Pashinyan notes, the legal regulation of the work of the Intergovernmental Council of the EAEU has not yet been brought into line with the new Constitution of Armenia, according to which the prime minister is the head of the country, and the first vice-premier has the status of the head of the Cabinet of the countries with the presidential form of government.
"If I do not take part in the work of the Council of Prime Ministers, decisions cannot be made." But even during the "velvet revolution," I stated that our goal is not to paralyze the work of the EAEU, but, on the contrary, to make it more effective our participation in this organization. Therefore I decided to go to St. Petersburg, "the prime minister explained.
Meanwhile, after the constitutional changes in the RA, the Prime Minister, as the head of state, is involved in the work of the EAEU Economic Economic Council - in the format of the leaders of the countries, this issue is solved de jure. And at the prime ministerial level, the first deputy prime minister was to take part in the meetings. However, according to mass media information, the party-organizer expressed support for the participation in the event of the Prime Minister of Armenia as the head of the Cabinet, as other countries of the EAEU participate in the meeting at the level of the heads of government.
In the northern capital on July 26-27, under the chairmanship of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, a regular meeting of the Eurasian intergovernmental council will be held. It will be attended by the premieres of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The heads of the governments of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union will discuss the issues of digital development of the states of the Eurasian Economic Union, cooperation in energy and transport, industrial cooperation and customs cooperation, and improvement of the regulatory and legal framework of the EAEU.
