ArmInfo.Armenia's cooperation with Germany in the military sphere is at a high level. On this eve, during the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Armenia Matthias Kiesler and military attache, captain of the 1st rank of the German Navy Torsten Aytis, Armenian Minister of Defense David Tonoyan stated.
As the RA MoD press service reports, the meeting was held in connection with the accreditation of Torsten Aytis in Armenia. The Minister congratulated the attache, wishing him success in the course of fulfilling his mission in the country. David Tonoyan stressed that within the framework of bilateral cooperation, 15- 20 events are held annually to exchange experience, and cooperation in the field of military education is carried out. The cornerstone of the Armenian-German defense cooperation is the joint participation in the peacekeeping mission under the auspices of NATO in Afghanistan.
Ambassador Kiesler stressed the importance for Germany to cooperate with Armenia, noting that German side is ready to continue discussing prospects for development of support.
During the meeting, issues of regional security were discussed, including the situation on the contact line between the armed forces of Artsakh and Azerbaijan and on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
