A citizen of Armenia, Karen Ghazaryan, who has recently been taken captive by the Azerbaijani side, is not a military man, as Baku tries to present, he is a civilian and all relevant documents have been transferred to the International Committee of the Red Cross and Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan told journalists.
According to him, Ghazaryan's relatives have already appealed to the European Court of Human Rights. " We work in three directions," the Minister said, noting that the Azerbaijani authorities have not yet allowed the representatives of the ICRC to meet with Ghazaryan. "But I am in constant contact with the ICRC in order to somehow accelerate this meeting," the Minister concluded.
Speaking about the situation on the border, Tonoyan said that it is stable at the moment. A resident of Berdavan, Karen Ghazaryan, born in 1984, was taken in Azerbaijani captivity on July 15. According to the head of the village, Ghazaryan, who had health problems, lost his way at night. Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense in this regard stated about "preventing the sally of the sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Armenian Armed Forces on the border." The incident, allegedly, occurred in the direction of the Gazakh region. The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported about capture of an Armenian serviceman, Karen Kazaryan, born in 1984.
