ArmInfo. The main department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia instituted criminal proceedings on the fact of cases of receipt, giving bribes, as well as on extortion and complicity in bribery.
As reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee, on July 10, the deputy of the Armenian parliament Alik Sargsyan appealed to IC. According to the deputy, the former governor of Ararat region of Armenia Vardges Hovakimyan threatened him since 2012 to compromise Sargsyan, demanding a bribe from him on an especially large scale - $ 60,000.
The former governor of Ararat region submitted a statement that in 2008, when Alik Sargsyan was the head of the Armenian police, he gave the bribe to the latter for the employment of the son of his former employee in the police. However, Sargsyan did not take this young man to work, moreover, he did not even return money to Hovakimyan.
Since the materials in this case contain the signs of crimes provided for in articlesfull 182, 311 and 312 of the Criminal Code, the main department of the Criminal Code initiated a criminal case and decided to send it to the Special Investigative Service.
