ArmInfo. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian received the executive director of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund Ara Vardanyan, who presented his resignation in connection with the accusation against him of abuse of office.
As the press service of the Armenian leader told ArmInfo, President Armen Sarkissian, as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fund, took note of Ara Vardanyan's resignation.
According to the established procedure, the application will be sent to the members of the Board of Trustees for approval, after which a special commission will be created, which will select a new executive director of the Fund on a competitive basis.
In connection with the situation around the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, the President of the Republic believes that since the birth of the third Republic, the Fund has implemented important and useful programs, uniting around itself national and spiritual structures, philanthropists and hundreds of thousands of individuals. Consequently, the Fund has yet to realize a mission in the life of Armenia, Artsakh in the Diaspora.
However, it is also clear that the Fund needs new organizational and conceptual approaches that will further enhance its effectiveness, credibility and weight.
And it is not for nothing that the President of the Republic during the meeting of the Fund's Board of Trustees on May 25 this year gave a three-month period to submit proposals on the Fund's fundamental reforms. Thus, Sarkissian hopes that Hayastan All-Armenian Fund will overcome this test and will leave it as renewed, worthy aspirations of New Armenia and the challenges facing it.
