ArmInfo. The main threat to the alliance between Russia and Armenia is not the Belarusian-Chinese Polonaises, Israeli Lauris, Russian TOS, Turkish Cassirgies or SOMs in the Azerbaijani army, not the spare MCC satellites or Turkish instructors in Nakhchivan and even not the surrender of positions in the issue of delimitation of the Caspian, but pragmatic, "but in fact - a vicious" approach to alliance.
This opinion was expressed at the conference "The Strategic Alliance of Armenia-Russia: Realities and Contemporary Challenges" by the national expert of the UN, member of the Eurasian Expert Club Ara Marjanyan. As for the prospects for allied relations, Marjanyan said that it is important to ensure the technological and infrastructural affiliation of the allies with a period of more than 2-3 electoral political cycles. According to him, some positive steps in this direction have already been taken - it is about the formation and deployment of a joint group of Russian and Armenian troops, the creation of a joint air defense command, and the extension of the status of the 102nd military base in Armenia until 2044.
However, in modern hybrid realities this, in his opinion, is not enough. "From this point of view, the priority tasks are to preserve, maintain and develop the entire nuclear energy segment in Armenia after 2026 and in the 50-70-year time horizon, to revive and develop long-term, high-tech projects in the field of satellite technology, laser technology and microelectronics, on the decisive development of the regional energy transport infrastructure along the "North-South" axis. And the most important task is the task of filling the military-political alliance between Armenia and Russia, politically, if you like, geopolitically, with meaning. After all, Armenia, in fact, like Russia, is unfinished geopolitical projects. How do we finish them, and do we have to finish them - these are the questions that require an elaborate answer. Talking about the prospects of our military-political alliance makes sense only in the context of joint searches for these answers, "Marjanyan concluded.
Meanwhile, the director of the Noravank scientific and educational foundation Gagik Harutyunyan in this context predicted the possible formation of the military-political axis Moscow-Yerevan-Athens, to which the Balkan countries can subsequently join. According to him, such an alliance can become extremely promising in terms of the prevailing geopolitical realities. It should be noted that the conference is organized by the research and analytical public organization "Integration and Development" and the Eurasian Expert Club.
