ArmInfo. Minister of Justice of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan is on a working visit to Venice, the press service of the Ministry of Justice informs. Zeynalyan met with the President of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio, during the meeting, the sides noted that there is a potential for development of cooperation. Zeynalyan confirmed the readiness of the government to cooperate efficiently with the Commission.
Later the Minister of Justice delivered a speech at the 115th plenary session of the Venice Commission. In his speech, the Minister noted that the priority task of the Government of Armenia is the establishment of the people's government and the provision of all the necessary legal mechanisms for this.
The Minister stressed that in order to carry out its mission, the government is going to implement reforms in the electoral legislation aimed at holding early elections in accordance with the Constitutional requirements.
After the speeches of the Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan and the Deputy Speaker of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan, the Head of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio stated about the importance of organizing early elections in accordance with the principles of the Venice Commission. Elections should be transparent, and parties must have enough time to prepare for them after the reform of the Electoral Code.
In conclusion, Zeynalyan said that the changes in the Electoral Code will be implemented taking into account the opinion of all the stakeholders.
