ArmInfo. In Armenia, specialists with secondary specialized education will receive the right to teach in the country's schools. Amendments to the law "On General Education" were made at an extraordinary meeting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on June 21 in the second and final reading.
Presenting the draft amendments, the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia Araik Harutyunyan noted that it is about 3 thousand specialists, which schools need, especially in the border and high mountain regions of the country. According to the current law, specialists with secondary specialized education had the right to teach in schools until 2018. Moreover, the right to teach was given to people who have a minimum of 10 years of work experience, of which at least 5 years - as teachers of the school. Prior to this, it was planned to retrain specialists, but this task was not achieved by the established deadline. "Now by September 1, the teachers in the schools in the country may face a shortage of teachers," the minister said, suggesting that the terms of the law "On General Education" be postponed until 2023. "Over the next five years, work will be carried out to fill the personnel problem," said Araik Harutyunyan, adding that in addition to addressing the issue of teacher training, it is also necessary to gradually solve the problem of their salaries in order to increase interest in teaching.
