ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on June 18 received a high-level delegation of the European Parliament headed by the head of the foreign policy committee David McAllister.
The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo that Mnatsakanyan welcomed the periodic visits of European parliamentarians to Armenia, stressing the importance of the platform of parliamentary cooperation within the framework of Armenia-EU cooperation.
In turn, the guests stressed that the European Parliament attaches great importance to the relations with Armenia, and the visit is a good opportunity to touch upon the multifaceted agenda of Armenia-EU cooperation, as well as first-hand acquaintance with the processes taking place in Armenia.
Having stated that on April 11 the National Assembly unanimously ratified the agreement on comprehensive and expanded partnership of the EU-Armenia, the parties expressed hope that the European Parliament will also soon ratify the document.
The participants of the meeting also stressed the importance of initiating a dialogue between Armenia and the EU on the liberalization of the visa regime.
Mnatsakanyan informed the guests that on April 20 he will go to Brussels to participate in the first meeting of the Armenia-EU partnership council, and also meet with a number of high-ranking European officials.
The Armenian FM detailed the approaches and priorities of the Armenian side on the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noting the need to create an atmosphere conducive to peace.
Mnatsakanyan spoke about Armenia's relations with its neighbors, as well as about Yerevan's position on regional issues and ways to resolve them.
