ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received today the delegation of the European Parliament head by the Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament David McAllister.
As the press service of the Armenian government told ArmInfo, Pashinyan welcomed the visit of the delegation to Armenia and noted the importance of intensifying cooperation, and its further development. The Prime Minister spoke about the development of political processes in Armenia and stressed that one of the priorities of the new government is the permanent development of democratic institutions. In this context, he spoke about the fight against corruption, the protection of human rights, the fight against monopolies in the economy, as well as reforms and projects expected to be implemented in other areas. The Prime Minister also talked about the possibilities of holding early elections and amending the Election Code, noting that their goal is to ensure and guarantee conduct of free, independent and fair elections. The representatives of the European Parliament in their turn stressed that they closely followed the internal political processes in Armenia, noted their importance and welcomed their peaceful solution without the use of violence, on the basis of democratic principles and within the framework of the Constitution. They also stressed that the EU is ready to assist the Armenian government in implementing reforms and promote development and strengthening of democracy.
Pashinyan also answered a number of questions related to attracting investments, improving the business environment, dividing politics and business, the development of civil society, the negotiation process aimed at the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
