ArmInfo.Georgian Prime Minister Georgy Kvirikashvili said that he is retiring. According to him, he took this decision because of disagreements with colleagues. RIA Novosti reports.
"I notice the mood in the team and I make a decision, which in my situation any head of the team should take," Kvirikashvili said at the briefing. According to the constitution of Georgia, following the resignation of the prime minister, the dissolution of the government follows. After that, within seven days, the president should submit to the parliament for approval the candidacy of the new head of the Cabinet, which the parliamentary majority will choose. Kvirikashvili said that on the eve of a meeting of representatives of Parliament and the government, which was also attended by the founder and chairman of the ruling party "Georgian Dream" Bidzina Ivanishvili, who recently returned to politics. Kvirikashvili noted that during the past few months several fundamental issues were noted, in which his position did not coincide with Ivanishvili's position.
"This is a normal process I've never run away from controversy, and I think that today has come a time when the party chairman should be allowed to complement the team, based on their reasons." said Kvirikashvili.
The issue was discussed a possible resignation of the government in society since then, both in the center of Tbilisi on May 31 began large-scale protests demanding the "restoration of justice" and the resignation of the prime minister.
