"I am starting my mission in Armenia in the new period - during the transition of the republic from the presidential to the parliamentary form of government, the 100th anniversary of the First Armenian Republic, the comprehension of the past path and the search for new sources of domestic political and economic development, and my main task is, first of all, the deepening and expansion of Russian-Armenian allied relations, the expansion of economic, military-political and cultural-humanitarian ties, assistance in opening up the potential and strengthening the role of Armenia in the Eurasian economy the CSTO and the CIS.To date, there has been an excellent development dynamics in the Unified Energy System.In 2017, the external and mutual trade of the member countries increased by 24.5% and 26% respectively.The GDP of the union increased by 1.8%, industrial production by 1.7%, and agricultural - by 2.5%. At the same time, Kopyrkin stressed that today the strategic nature of relations between Russia and Armenia includes not only political dialogue, but also large-scale military and border cooperation, which is of key importance in ensuring peace and stability in the South Caucasus region. The diplomat expressed confidence that the Armenian-Russian interaction affecting virtually all spheres of the life of the state and society will continue and multiply, remaining a solid foundation for the prosperity and prosperity of the peoples of the two states.
At the same time, the ambassador, speaking of the Day of Russia, recalled that Russians have been celebrating this holiday for more than a quarter of a century as the beginning of a new era of the Russian state. According to the diplomat, the Day of Russia is associated with turning points in the recent history of Russia, with fundamental changes in the political and economic spheres, in the spiritual life of society, in the value system. "Despite its relative youth, this holiday takes a special place in the calendar of official dates of our state, restores the connection of times, awakens in Russians a sense of belonging to the centuries-old Russian history and great culture," the ambassador said.
At the end of the welcome speech, Kopyrkin handed over the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation "For Contribution to International Cooperation" to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan for active cooperation with the Russian Foreign Ministry on the development of bilateral cooperation and for many years in the development of Russian-Armenian allied relations.
