ArmInfo.. The Minister of Education and Science of Armenia, Araik Harutyunyan, received the delegation led by the head of the department of regional programs of the Eastern Neighborhood in the Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement of the European Commission Vasilis Maragos.
As the press service of the Ministry of Education told ArmInfo, the head of the EU delegation to Armenia Piotr Switalsky also participated in the meeting.
Harutyunyan noted that the new government of Armenia attaches great importance to the sphere of education, and intends to implement large-scale projects in this area. According to him, the main task today is a change in the atmosphere in the sphere, as a number of negative phenomena are associated with this region: corruption, politicization and much more. According to him, today a number of short-term, medium-term and long-term tasks have been identified that will need to be resolved. At the same time, he noted that serious work is to be done within the framework of the Horizon-2020 program in the context of the Bologna Process.
In turn, Maragos stressed the need to provide a wider field for cooperation for the development of education. He noted the importance of human resource development and the important role in this process of quality education. The European official stressed that the development of human resources is of great importance, in which the provision of quality education plays an important role. Vasilis Maragos also touched upon the implementation of Erasmus + and Horizon-2020 projects.
Meanwhile, Switalsky noted that the new government of Armenia attaches great importance to the development of the education sector, and the EU is ready to support the implementation of new programs and ensure their continuity.
