ArmInfo. Ex-state minister of Artsakh Araik Harutyunyan today at a press conference tried to explain the reasons for his resignation.
According to him, from the day of his appointment as head of the Artsakh Cabinet since 2007, serious economic reforms began in the republic, which for 10 years provided stable double-digit growth. "I can say unequivocally that we succeeded in implementing economic reforms and provided the country with such growth indicators that can be considered optimal not only on a regional but also global scale," Harutyunyan assured, stressing that economic reforms are currently being put on stable tracks, and if they continue, they will ensure the country's consistent development until 2021, regardless of the personality of the successor to the state minister.
As for political and democratic reforms, according to Harutyunyan's definition, sufficient work has been done in this direction, but the people demanded more. "And my resignation is due precisely to the desire to contribute to the revitalization of these reforms. As a state minister, I was limited in my powers, my prerogative was the economic bloc, which I successfully coped with. However, as state minister, I could not take an active part in political and democratic processes. Now, as the leader of the largest parliamentary force - the party "Free Motherland" I will take an active part in political processes, I will contribute to the development of democracy in the country, while I and my party will continue To assist the president Bako Sahakyan Of course, if it deviates from the course taken, we will criticize it, but there is no such preconditions," Harutyunyan said, adding that after the resignation will continue to remain in politics and does not intend to leave Artsakh.
He also said that the party he leads will actively take part in political processes in Artsakh, including in elections. As for his presidential ambitions in 2020, Harutyunyan noted that in a country like Artsakh one cannot make long-term forecasts, since the situation on the border may change in one second and nullify all the forecasts and plans.
