ArmInfo. Armenia attaches great importance to all-round cooperation with the United States. During the meeting with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Brigitte Brink, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan stated.
Brink congratulated Mnatsakanian on the assumption of the post of foreign minister, then conveyed her good wishes in connection with the historic day for Armenia - the 100th anniversary of the First Republic. The Deputy Assistant Secretary of State expressed readiness, along with the new administration of Armenia, to take practical steps aimed at deepening the Armenian-American relations.
The interlocutors expressed the common opinion that the high-level meetings provide a good opportunity to discuss the issues on the agenda of the relations between the two friendly countries and joint steps aimed at further strengthening and deepening cooperation.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on expanding the bilateral political dialogue, further intensifying trade and economic ties. In this context, the importance of effective activity of the Armenian- American Council on Trade and Investment and the Armenian-American intergovernmental commission was especially noted.
The parties touched upon initiatives in the sphere of culture in detail, as a good example, noting the program implemented jointly by the US Agency for International Development and the Smithsonian Institution and aimed at presenting the historical and cultural heritage of Armenia within the framework of the Smithsonian Culture Festival.
A number of international and regional issues were also on the agenda.
The Head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry noted the importance of the US efforts, jointly with other co- chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia and France, for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, reaffirming Armenia's commitment exclusively to the peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict. In this context, the parties mutually stressed the need for the formation and strengthening of an atmosphere conducive to peace.
