ArmInfo. Today, during the meeting, Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan and co-rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee on Armenia Giuseppe Galatti and Yulia Lyovochkina discussed issues of protection of citizens' rights and criminal-legal protection.
As the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office told ArmInfo, the agenda of the meeting was also: objectivity and usefulness of investigation of recorded crimes, as well as prosecutor's supervision of their legality.
Davtyan stressed that within the framework of the Constitutional powers, the mission of the Prosecutor General's Office was to ensure the rule of law. He also informed that the proceedings were begun for all reports of violations recorded during the meetings and in the police stations, with the participation and supervision of prosecutors, measures were taken to ensure respect for the rights of citizens. Particular attention was paid to the legal assessment of obstructing the professional activities of journalists during the meetings.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the reforms taking place in the sphere of the judicial and legal system and their vector.
