ArmInfo.The PACE highly appreciates the creation of a commission for the prevention of corruption, which will deal with issues of illegal enrichment and export of money from the country. This was stated by the PACE co-rapporteurs on Armenia on May 24 at a meeting with representatives of parliamentary factions, expressing concern over this fact.
To note, PACE co-reporters in Armenia are Yulia Lyovochkina from Ukraine on Giuseppe Galatti from Italy. During the meetings in the factions, the parties turned to the latest political processes and solutions to the current situation, in particular, how to organize early elections, if the Republican Party of Armenia, which is an absolute majority in the parliament, will prevent its dissolution. The reforms of the Electoral Code were also discussed. The parties also discussed the law on "Family Violence". The PACE delegates highly appreciated the steps of the past authorities towards strengthening democracy and development of Armenia. According to the secretary of the Republican Party faction Gagik Minasyan, the co-reporters expressed gratitude to the third president of Armenia for his efforts to strengthen democracy in the country. "They said that presenting the situation, they will note that democracy really won in Armenia," Gagik Melikyan said. Secretary of the Elk faction Edmond Marukyan stated that the Europeans noted that they were really impressed by the velvet revolution in Armenia and enthusiastically spoke about the revolutionaries and the people of Armenia.
