ArmInfo. "Tomorrow, with your permission, I will officially be nominated for the post of Prime Minister of Armenia," said the leader of the protest movement, Nikol Pashinyan, addressing the audience in the Republic Square.
According to Pashinyan, as a result of today's consultations, it became clear that the ARF Dashnaktsutyun party and the Tsarukyan bloc remain committed to their position expressed the day before. "Tsarukyan bloc led by the party leader today confirmed his readiness to support the candidacy of the people's prime minister at the upcoming parliamentary session," he said. In addition, the ruling Republican Party also expressed its readiness to support the candidacy of Nikol Pashinyan following the meeting of the parliamentary faction.
Nevertheless, Nikol Pashinyan urged not to lose vigilance. No matter how tempting the words of the Republicans sounded, as the opposition leader noted, they require documentary confirmation in order to understand the real aspirations of the Republican Party.
In this regard, Nikol Pashinyan calls on his supporters to temporarily suspend the holding of protests. "Rest and watch my Facebook page, because every minute the situation may change and there will be a need to urgently gather, I will work with the people's representatives in parliament to make sure of their words and understand how guaranteed the fulfillment of today's statement of the Republican Party," he declared.
If everything goes according to plan, then, according to the people's candidate for the premieres, the people's movement will take a time-out for several days, and on the voting day, not the number of 250 thousand people, but 500 thousand people will gather. As Nikol Pashinyan stated, on the eve of the meeting of the National Assembly the RPA deputies hoped to reveal something that could lead to disappointment of the people with their candidate during the procedure of questions and answers. They also relied on the fact that their questions could piss Pashinyan off, the people who support him, drive them out of themselves, provoking them for certain actions. In addition, the government hoped that after rejecting the candidacy of the people's prime minister, people would stop resisting and would no longer go to actions of civil disobedience. "But you have proved that you no longer need to believe in any political figure or party: you are your own strength, believing in yourself, in your power, the people will always come out victorious. Today and always. The Armenian people will be a winner, I am grateful to you, I bow to you," concluded Nikol Pashinyan.
