ArmInfo. The Republican Party started to consider reserve options for maneuver during the elections of the Prime Minister of the state depending on further development of the situation.
The RPA was initially inclined to nominate its own candidate for the post of prime minister, which is the acting prime minister Karen Karapetyan. As ArmInfo's source in the RPA informed, at present the party continues to adhere to this line. However, Republicans began to consider plan B, depending on the further development of the situation. "We will closely monitor the situation until May 1 - the voting day, and it is quite possible that we will announce our final position at the last moment. If, however, Pashinyan succeeds in implementing his plan and on May 1 to pull the population of the regions into the capital, paralyze public life, perhaps we will implement Plan B, that is, we support the candidacy of Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Tsaroukyan bloc, "the source explained. At the same time, he made it clear that this scenario was discussed with Tsaroukyan himself. He also categorically denied the possibility that the RPA will support Pashinyan's candidacy in the elections.
Meanwhile, during the recent days the representatives of the Tsaroukyan bloc and the Republican party in their interviews began to prepare the ground for such a development of the situation. Thus, the leader of the “Alliance” party, part of the Tsaroukyan bloc, Tigran Urikhanyan stated that he will vote only for Gagik Tsaroukyan during the elections of the Prime Minister. Secretary of the faction Vahe Enphiadjyan stated that the best candidate for the post of the head of the Government is Gagik Tsaroukyan. Tsaroukyan himself has not yet announced his position on the recent developments. However, today he intends to make a statement.
It is noteworthy that today in his interview to 1in.am portal the deputy from the RPA, the brother of the owner of the "Tashir Group" Samvel Karapetyan Karen Karapetyan stated that in the current situation the RPA should not act with its candidate for the premieres, but to support the people's choice who are Nikol Pashinyan and Gagik Tsaroukyan. It is noteworthy that in the society these days Tsaroukyan's name as prime minister is not exaggerated at all. In this context, Karapetyan's mention of his name is very strange. Karapetyan also said that, being well acquainted with the acting prime minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan, he is almost sure that he will not pretend to the prime minister's chair in the prevailing conditions, when all the people are against it.The deputy also severely criticized his native party, saying that she was guilty of deep-seated corruption in the republic, increasing poverty and migration and other negative phenomena.
It is noteworthy that the RPA just after that came out with a statement where it is stressed that the MP spoke about his personal position in the interview, which does not reflect party’s approaches.
