ArmInfo.Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan convened a meeting of the Security Council. Armenian governmental press service reports.
Acting Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan, acting Minister of Defense Vigen Sargsyan, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Head of the National Security Service Georgy Kutoyan, Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan, Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces Movses Hakobyan attended the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Karapetyan touched upon a number of urgent issues. "Firstly, I want to appeal to our military forces and on behalf of all to express our gratitude to our soldiers, officers and especially the forces on alert, for the fulfillment of their mission with a sense of high duty and responsibility, regardless of the processes. There is no doubt that we are vigilant and united," he said.
Karapetyan turned to Sarkissian and remarked that the operational summary of the last days testifies to the active movement of the enemy's manpower and equipment to the Artsakh-Azeri contact line of the troops. And in this context, he stated that in connection with this fact the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group have already came up with statement. "We agree that we must immediately reduce this tension, which we also discussed today with the President of Artsakh. As in past, today the political leadership of the two countries and the Armed Forces are ready to give an adequate response to any attempt to violate the ceasefire and to contain the actions. There should be no illusions from this point of view," Karapetyan said.
Secondly, Mr. Gasparyan, continued acting Prime Minister, the police in those days demonstrated high professionalism and the ability to ensure public safety. He expressed gratitude to all policemen for dedication, work and tolerance. At the same time, he stressed that along with maintaining tolerance during mass demonstrations, rallies, it is equally important to understand the need to be vigilant from the point of view of ensuring public order. "Thirdly, Mr. Kutoyan, I especially want to highlight vigilance and due fulfillment of the obligations shown by the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia these days. It is known that some forces tried to take advantage of the current situation in our country. We will continue to be strict and resolute in the matter of ensuring state security. Our society must be sure that state structures continue to fully perform the assigned functions. The external partners can be sure that Armenia is committed to all previously taken partnership commitments, and the rest of the external forces must clearly realize that the full range of our capabilities continues to fully ensure our national security," Karapetyan concluded.
