"We express our concern over the current situation, which impedes the normal activities of the country," the statement of the Catholicos reads. It is noted that every Armenian who loves his country has his own vision, which can be manifested in legal ways, freely realizing his civil rights. However, according to Garegin II, this right does not imply a deviation from the rules, violation of the rights of other citizens or creating a threat to the lives of others. "Both among the demonstrators and the police are the sons of our people and our Holy Church," the statement says, while it is noted that it is unacceptable to sow enmity and hatred, as well as the use of violence against one another.
The Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians call on the sons of Armenia, show respect and condescension towards each other, retaining restraint and prudence. "We can confront the challenges facing our Motherland only if we preserve cohesion, mutual understanding, a sense of universal responsibility and unity. Our country needs such spirit today," the statement said.
