ArmInfo. If the "Tsaroukyan" bloc votes for Serzh Sargsyan, or for any other candidate for premieres from the ruling Republican Party, he will cease to be an opposition. This was stated in a conversation with journalists on April 10 by a deputy from the Tsarukyan faction, Sergei Bagratyan.
"If we are the opposition, we choose the candidate nominated by the ruling party, so we have nothing to do in the opposition field," Bagratyan said, assuring that he was ready to defend his point of view if there were debates on this issue in the bloc.
At the same time, the deputy said that there had not been any discussion about the choice of the prime minister's candidacy in the bloc yet. Asked whether the bloc can support the RPA candidate, if the leader of the bloc Gagik Tsarukyan accepts such a decision, Bagratyan assured that Tsaroukyan never forces deputies from the bloc to follow their decisions and always listens to the views of others.
Touching on the fact that the bloc recently voted for the RPA presidential candidate, Bagratyan noted that Armen Sarkisian was non-partisan. "We came to the conclusion that, in the current situation, he is the best candidate for this responsible post." In the case of the prime minister, the situation is still somewhat different, "the deputy stressed.
The day before acting Prime Minister of the country Karen Karapetyan made a statement in which he presented the details of the meeting with Serzh Sargsyan on April 7 this year. In particular, Karapetyan stressed: "We agreed that with the challenges and tasks facing the country, the most important task is a smooth transition to the new management system." Taking into account the successes achieved in the recent period thanks to the existing management configuration, we decided to offer our party members (the ruling Republican party of Armenia -editor's notes) during this period to maintain the current configuration of the administration, that is, to propose Serzh Sargsyan as a leader.
