ArmInfo.Chairman of the National Assembly Ara Babloyan on March 13 received a delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, headed by Chairman Konstantin Kosachev.
As the press service of the parliament reports, Babloyan expressed confidence that the visit of the delegation will contribute to deepening the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary cooperation. Babloyan noted that cooperation between the two parliaments occupies an important place on the agenda of the Armenian-Russian interstate relations. In this context, the Chairman of the National Assembly highly appreciated the joint meetings of the permanent commissions of the parliaments of the two countries, which are a platform for dialogue between the legislative bodies and provide an opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues of bilateral interest.
Ara Babloyan stressed the importance of cooperation with international parliamentary organizations and noted that the role of relevant committees and friendship groups in the legislature is great.
Kosachev presented to the speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia the issues discussed at the first joint meeting and noted that the agenda of the session includes many issues related to the security of the two countries, strategic partnership and inter-parliamentary cooperation. Kosachev also stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and mutually beneficial cooperation in international structures.
The head of the committee expressed hope that the issues of mutual interest discussed during the joint sessions will be resolved in the near future. At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors discussed a number of issues related to parliamentary cooperation
