ArmInfo. Relations between Armenia and Georgia continue to develop in an atmosphere of mutual trust. This was announced by the head of the Armenian government Karen Karapetyan in Yerevan on March 2 at a joint briefing with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.
According to him, the talks between the delegations of the two countries held today took place in a warm and constructive atmosphere. Both bilateral relations and regional processes were discussed. In particular, the Armenian side presented the opportunities of the free economic zone in Meghri on the Armenian-Iranian border, the prospects of cooperation in the spheres of energy, transport, and tourism were discussed in detail. "We also agreed to intensify our efforts to intensify contacts with the youth organizations of the two countries, the issue of maintaining Armenian cultural monuments in Georgia was discussed, for which we are grateful to the authorities of the friendly state," Karen Karapetyan said. He noted that following the results of the talks, agreements were reached on new areas of cooperation. Despite the high growth rates of the bilateral trade turnover, however, the RA Prime Minister continued, the potential for its growth is still considerable.
In turn, the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili noted that the development and deepening of bilateral relations is based on the centuries-old friendship of the peoples of the two states. "We are pleased that bilateral relations are characterized by positive dynamics, and both countries celebrated the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2017. During this period of time, we managed to develop mutually beneficial cooperation on the basis of mutual trust.In 2017, numerous meetings were held at a high level, and as well as meetings in an international format, "the head of the Georgian government said. He reminded that at the beginning of last year, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan visited Georgia, and today's visit of the governmental delegation of Georgia is reciprocal. Last December, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan paid an official visit to Georgia. "And we are happy that the political relations between the two countries are at a high level," Giorgi Kvirikashvili said, pointing to the importance of intensifying cooperation in such areas as energy, transport, tourism.
