ArmInfo.The European Parliament did not accept any document on the events in Khojalu, Azerbaijan again distorts the essence. Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesman Tigran Balayan told ArmInfo.
"22 MPs from the group with friendship with Azerbaijan signed a statement that does not mention either genocide, or Armenians or Armenia," Balayan said, and cited the full text of the statement, which states, in particular, that on the night of 25 on On February 26, 1992, the civilian population in the Azerbaijani city of Khojaly was subjected to massacres.
The document notes that as a result of the events in Khojaly 613 people were killed, including 106 women, 63 children and 70 old people, hundreds of people were seriously injured and 1,275 people were taken hostage as a result of this massacre. Then, the document expresses condolences to the families and friends of those who died as a result of the Khojaly events and emphasizes the importance of commemoration of those who died as a result of this tragedy in terms of preventing such crimes in the future.
Earlier, Azerbaijani media spread the message that the European Parliament adopted a statement in connection with the "Khojaly genocide".
