ArmInfo. In the course of the riots on 1-2 March 2008, property damage, looting, the use of weapons against police officers, and resistance to government officials took place in Yerevan. This was stated by the deputy head of the department on especially important cases of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia Karen Bisharyan during the parliamentary hearings "March 1 - 2, 2008".
Bisharian noted that criminal cases were initiated in these incidents. The prosecutor also noted that a special group of experts was set up to investigate the events that happened on that fateful night, in addition, the authorities of Armenia carried out large-scale investigative actions. According to Bisharyan, during the investigation 5000 witnesses were questioned for the most accurate reconstruction of the incident.
Thus, according to the prosecutor, it was established that the third of the dead - Gore Cloyan, Armen Farmanyan and Tigran Khachatryan, died from the explosion of a special gas grenade "Cheryomukha-7", and the remaining 7 - from gunshot wounds.
At the same time Bisharyan noted the fact that the use of special-purpose grenade "Cheremukha-7", according to the assurance of Russian experts and manufacturers, is permissible in the open space and does not pose a threat to people's lives in this case.
In conclusion of his speech, the deputy chief of the department for especially important cases stated that at the moment everything is being done to establish the circumstances of the death of the deceased. "All those guilty will necessarily bear the punishment they deserve," Bisharyan assured.
In turn, one of the members of the commission to investigate the events of March 1, 2008 Andranik Kocharyan said that during the dispersal of rallies the use of the special-purpose grenade "Cheryomukha- 4", and not "Cheryomukha-7", is permitted. "Both types of grenades were used by the police of Armenia, and I want to note that the Cheremukha-4 grenade was not used after the use of the grenade." Special- purpose grenade "Cheryomukha-7" is used only by the special services in case of antiterrorist operations for expelling terrorists from closed spaces, "- said Kocharyan, thereby refuting the words of the speaker before him Bisharyan. The father of one of the dead Gor Kloyan in the course of March 1 events, Sarkis Kloyan, said that the only wish of all the relatives of the victims is that the guilty ones should be punished properly.
"For 10 years now this issue has been constantly discussed, however, there is no progress in the investigation of the events, and the perpetrators of this crime have not yet been punished." The plenipotentiary structures, instead of the investigation, did their utmost to conceal the crimes. This is unacceptable and we will fight to the very end for the establishment of justice, "Kloyan concluded.
