ArmInfo.I do not agree with the view that the introduction of mobile radars and speedometers violate the rights of Armenian citizens, on the contrary, this system is used in a number of European countries. This was stated by Justice Minister David Harutyunyan at a press conference on February 20, answering the corresponding question.
Harutyunyan noted that an unscrupulous driver can still violate the rules of the road, regardless of the presence or absence of mobile or fixed cameras. "In both cases, you can monitor the law, or violate it," the minister said.
He also stressed the fact that surveillance cameras are also installed in most shops and at intersections. "In this case, none of us are talking about human rights violations, right? This is another additional measure to ensure safety on the roads, no more." I also want to note that if the driver does not violate the rules of the road, then he has nothing to fear "- assured Harutyunyan.
In conclusion, the Minister promised that the use of cameras will be carried out in compliance with all norms, and the Government will discuss the issue of identifying the main routes where these radars will be observed.
It should be noted that since February 8 of this year the Armenian Road Police has started using mobile radars on the roads of the country. According to the press service of the Armenian Police, the innovation is due to the fact that in 2018 there was an increase of hard accidents number the main reason of which is the speeding up.
