ArmInfo. Newly appointed Ambassador of Chile to Armenia Rodrigo Nieto Maturana (residence-Moscow) presented copies of his credentials to Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.
According to the press service of the Armenian MFA, Nalbandian expressed hope that the ambassador will contribute to the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of the Armenian President to Chile in 2014 and aimed at deepening and expanding bilateral relations.
In his turn, the ambassador stressed that Chile is interested in deepening relations with Armenia and assured that it will make maximum efforts in this direction. Nalbandian expressed gratitude to the Ambassador, for the adoption in 2007 by the Senate of Chile, and in 2015 by the Parliament of the resolution on the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the development of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, holding inter-ministerial consultations, strengthening cooperation at international venues, forming a regulatory framework, intensifying contacts in the inter-parliamentary format, and stimulating trade and economic contacts. Nalbandian talked about recent developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as about the efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs for an exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict.
