According to the press service of the Armenian leader, during his speech, Sargsyan stated that over the past quarter century, working together in both bilateral and multilateral formats, Armenia and Bulgaria have gone a substantial way, multiplying and enriching the inherited contacts, giving them a more businesslike, objective and focused on the future essence. In its trunks, we are talking about achievements in both political and trade-economic, tourist, inter-parliamentary, defense, scientific-educational and cultural spheres.
The President of Armenia also noted that the school named after the Bulgarian poet Pejo Yavorov which the Bulgarian head visited, and the museum based there in honor of the poet is a vivid example of how the descendants of the two peoples built friendships. "Our friendship has a solid foundation, but, even the most solid foundation, needs daily care and attention." We must continue working to ensure that our relations have qualitative growth, "Sargsyan said.
In his turn, Radev expressed the conviction that the past effective meetings will help to intensify the dialogue and create conditions for deepening cooperation between Armenia and Bulgaria in all mutually beneficial spheres. "I am excited because after the 14-year break, the President of Bulgaria visited Armenia and I am sure that the effective negotiations held today will help to intensify the political dialogue and create conditions for deepening the Armenian-Bulgarian bilateral cooperation in all mutually beneficial areas. I am also pleased that I am visiting the capital Armenia - Yerevan, on the eve of its 2800th anniversary.There are traditionally friendly relations between Armenia and Bulgaria, in which there have never been open questions, "said President Bo Garii. In this context, he highly appreciated the role of the Armenian community of the country in the development of bilateral relations.
At the same time, noting that on January 13 of this year 140 years have passed since the birth of the famous Bulgarian poet Yavorov, Radev stated that he is known and loved both in Bulgaria and in Armenia, and his verse "Armenians" created a bridge of proximity between two peoples. Touching upon the framework agreement signed between Armenia and the EU, the President of Bulgaria expressed the conviction that after rapid ratification, it will become an instrument for closer cooperation with the European Union. "I am glad that my visit is taking place during Bulgaria's chairmanship of the Council of the EU, this is one of my few visits to third countries during this period, which demonstrates the important role we attach to relations with Armenia." During Bulgaria's presidency of the EU Council the country will continue to hold the center of attention and support all the EU policies that will also strengthen our bilateral relations and are sure that they should lead to concrete and tangible results for citizens: deepen the proximity, trans sports and energy contacts, contacts between people, cooperation in the field of education, "said the Bulgarian leader.
