ArmInfo. The member of the board of the Armenian National Movement (ANM), the former chairman of the parliamentary commission on foreign relations Hovhannes Igityan, is convinced that the coming to power of the candidate for the presidency of Armenia from the Republican Party (RPA) Armen Sargsyan will not suffer a relationship with Russia.
"Relations with Russia will not be conditioned by the personality of the president of the country, it will be more the prerogative of the future prime minister of Armenia." In addition, Russia has a monopoly in all leading directions for a long time. In fact, the opinion that we are implementing the policy "and: "It's accurate, we have a completely pro-Russian policy," Igityan said January 31 at a press conference in Yerevan. Answering the question on how the new Armenia-EU framework agreement will be implemented, if it has a pro-Russian policy, he stated that Armenia's relations with the European Union were not laid by this agreement, the interaction was and will continue at the same pace. "The EU has repeatedly stated that it expects concrete and effective actions from Armenia, no one will pay money for imitating the activity. The European taxpayers are strict about any allocation of funds. As for the points of the agreement that are already planned to be implemented this spring, that they could be implemented without the assistance of the EU, since all of these points regarding the rule of law, human rights, the fight against corruption are spelled out in our constitution. Another question is who will this be realized, and whether it will be implemented at all, "Igityan said, adding that in Armenia today the same elected deputies who are called to protect the interests of citizens, not only do not fulfill their direct duties, but also not elementary represent how people live below the poverty line. Speaking in general about the personality of Armen Sargsyan, Igityan said that his opinion will in any case be subjective, since he has known him for a long time, worked with him on international platforms, where they jointly promoted a number of topical issues for Armenia, including, Mountainous Karabakh. We must understand this circumstance, the expert believes, that Sargsyan comes to power not with the help of the people, and the person in this position will not be able to change the situation inside the country in any significant way.
