ArmInfo. Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ara Babloyan on January 23 received Lebanon's Ambassador to Armenia Maya Dagher. According to the press service of the Parliament, Ara Babloyan noted that despite the fact that the Armenian-Lebanese diplomatic relations have a history of twenty-five years, friendly relations between the countries have developed over the centuries. The President of the National Assembly thanked the Lebanese people for the warm relations they had shown over the years with the Armenian community. Speaking about the situation in the region, Ara Babloyan expressed concern over the recent events in Syria and noted that the issues should be solved politically. The Speaker expressed readiness to support the intensification of relations between the parliaments of the two countries, noting also that Armenia and Lebanon have great potential for development of cooperation in the spheres of economy, health, education, culture and other spheres. Ambassador Dagher, touching the centuries-old and lasting friendship of the Lebanese and Armenian peoples, underscored the important role and importance of the Armenian community in the social and political life of Lebanon. Maya Dagher stated that the Armenian MPs are active in the Lebanese parliament. The Ambassador expressed readiness to contribute to the revitalization of the parliamentary friendship groups and to implement the steps aimed at expanding cooperation between the two countries. Ara Babloyan wished Maya Dagher success in the implementation of the diplomatic mission in Armenia.
