ArmInfo. Persons who refused citizenship of Armenia will have to sell their agricultural and forest land for a year. Relevant amendments to the Land Code and a package of accompanying laws were made at the meeting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on January 16 in the second and final reading.
At the same time, according to the First Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artur Hovhannisyan, the right to own flats and houses of individual use will continue to be preserved for them. As the deputy minister noted, this provision is fixed both in the Constitution of 2005 and in the Constitution of 2015. Now the executive branch introduces the requirement of the Basic Law into the legislation of the country. Only citizens of Armenia have the right to own agricultural and forest land. The foreigner undertakes to sell the land also if it was donated to him.
Exceptions will not even in the case of inheritance of land. The document also provides a mechanism for monitoring the implementation of the provisions of the law. State bodies along the chain will inform each other: the police will notify the real estate cadastre of changes in citizenship, and the cadastre - local authorities, which, in turn, through the court will seek compliance with the requirements of the law.
