ArmInfo. Ambassadors of Armenia and Germany in Georgia Ruben Sadoyan and Heike Peitsch discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest.
According to the press service of the Armenian Embassy in Georgia, Sadoyan noted that the Armenian- German political dialogue and cooperation are developing dynamically, and are full of intensive visits at a high level. Touching upon the Karabakh conflict, the Armenian diplomat spoke in detail to a colleague from the FRG about the efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs for an exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict, and the destructive policy of the Azeri side. He also spoke about the incident at the contact line of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh troops, which took place the other day, when an Armenian soldier died of a shot of an Azerbaijani sniper.
The sides also touched upon the Armenia-EU comprehensive and expanded partnership agreement and the opportunities that the agreement opens in the context of Armenia-Germany bilateral relations. The Armenian Ambassador noted that the Armenian people have great respect for the friendly people of Germany and remember with gratitude the adoption by the German Bundestag in June 2016 of the resolution on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire. Peitsch spoke about the situation of refugees in Germany. Sadoyan recalled that Armenia has accepted more than 22 thousand refugees from Syria, and their problems are always in the focus of attention of the Armenian authorities. Ambassador Heike Peitsch was German Ambassador to Armenia from 2004 to 2007.
