In the suburbs of Vienna, Laxenburg (Austria), the International Youth Forum "The Future of European and Eurasian Integration: Foresight 2040", supported by the Gorchakov Foundation, was held. Its organizers were Institute of Strategic Strategies of INES RAS and International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA, Vienna).
As noted on the official website of the Gorchakov Foundation, the forum was a breakthrough initiative to consolidate thinking and motivated young people from more than twenty countries to find a new ideological and conceptual image of the future of Eurasian and European integration for the next 20-25 years. The main goal of the event is to provide a powerful intellectual breakthrough in understanding the theoretical and practical aspects of the relations of the countries of the Eurasian region. The forum was held in the format of a strategic game, which included numerous interactive seminars, master classes, brainstorms and debates with the participation of experienced experts and analysts in various fields, politicians and representatives of state structures.
Alexander Ageyev, Director General of IES Alexander Ageyev, speaking at the opening of the forum, noted the importance of the tasks set and the great responsibility of the participants, since the best projects of solving integration problems will be presented at a high level within the framework of the 24th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council "Communication, Trade and economic cooperation within the framework of the expanded European and Eurasian space ". The possibility of such interaction between the youth expert community, on the one hand, and the political establishment on the other, will allow to look at existing initiatives from a new angle and develop recommendations for overcoming existing problems.
Also at the opening of the forum the Director General of IIASA, Dr. Pavel Kabat, spoke. He recalled the conditions in which the international order formed the second half of the twentieth century, told how IIASA develops and tries to respond to the challenges of modernity. Experts and analysts have tried to provide the widest possible overview of the existing initiatives of the organization of the Eurasian space. Thus, the guest of the forum, the first President of the Kyrgyz Republic Askar Akaev spoke about the impact of China's strategy of "One Belt One Road" geo-economics Grand Eurasia in 2030-2040-ies. Director of IIASA programs Elena Rovenskaya spoke about the challenges and opportunities of the enlarged European and Eurasian economic space, a leading expert of the Austrian National Bank, Andrea Hofer has designated the basic economic factors of economic development of the Eurasian region. Security issues were raised in the speech by the vice-president of LLC Siemens in Russia, the deputy foreign minister in 1993-1996. Sergey Krylov. Information factors of the Eurasian and European Integration highlighted the head of the agency "Arminfo" and information-analytical center "East - West" Emmanuil Mkrtchyan.
